This week’s staff shoutout goes to Amy Bleacher, Special Education Paraeducator at Smith-Wade-El Elementary School!
For the past eight years, Amy has poured her heart into supporting School District of Lancaster students and helping them grow academically and emotionally. A proud JP McCaskey grad, Amy’s journey with the district has been about one thing: building meaningful relationships with her students.
“No two days are ever the same,” Amy says. “I’m always thinking on my feet and solving problems in the moment. But what brings me the most success is seeing the students I support grow. It’s what drives me every day.” Ms. Bleacher finds the most joy in watching her students grow and succeed, both academically and emotionally. Her commitment to flexibility and collaboration with her team allows her to support not just the students in her care, but also her colleagues throughout the school.
Amy’s colleagues couldn’t agree more. One said, “Her relationships with students are to be commended. She makes them feel like part of the school and classroom, building their confidence not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well.”
Amy embodies the SDoL value of Health & Wellness in everything she does, reminding us all of the importance of caring for our students’ overall well-being.
