This week’s staff shoutout goes to Allysha Zink, Certified School Nurse at McCaskey High School since January 2020.
As a Certified School Nurse, Allysha’s favorite part of her job is the meaningful interactions she has with students and the vital role she plays in connecting them with essential health services. Whether she’s helping guardians schedule specialty appointments or overcoming barriers to access, Allysha is dedicated to ensuring every student receives the care they deserve.
One of Allysha’s colleagues shared a story that captured Allysha’s dedication: “Last year, Nurse Zink met a young student by the name of Job who would be coming to the High School in the Fall. The student recently came to Lancaster from the Dominican Republic and was confined to a wheelchair. The wheelchair’s condition was rusted and did not meet the student’s needs. Nurse Zink worked all summer and was able to get HARTZ Physical Therapy to provide a new wheelchair for him. Along with the wheelchair, Nurse Zink was able to secure additional support for the student at home.”
Allysha embodies the SDoL value of Health & Wellness in everything she does. Her love for our district is evident in her words: “I love working for SDoL because everyone is here for the students. You can tell everyone truly cares for the well-being of our students and will do everything they can to help each student succeed.”
Allysha graduated from Lampeter Strasburg High School and continued her education at HACC, the Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences, and Eastern University. Though she’s not a McCaskey alum, she grew up in Lancaster City, spending her summers with her grandmother and attending SDoL’s summer programs.
We are grateful for the love and care she brings to our students every day. Thank you, Nurse Zink, for making a difference in the lives of our students and for being an inspiration to us all!
