This week, we are shining a spotlight on Rosemary Reyes Valentin,a passionate Student Support Specialist at McCaskey HS, whose passion for helping others and love for her community have made a lasting impact during her three years with the district.
Rosemary’s role is central to fostering a positive environment for both students and staff. She is deeply invested in helping students navigate their challenges, providing guidance, and building positive connections that shape their lives. Her passion for creating a supportive and inclusive environment extends to her fellow staff members as well. For Rosemary, it’s about making a difference every single day. She reflects, “It is a very rewarding position where we get to help change lives of individuals on a daily basis.”
One of her most treasured aspects of her work is her visits to our special needs programs. Rosemary speaks about the joy these moments bring her, sharing how the students’ smiles and laughter fill her with gratitude. She calls these experiences “a true blessing,” a reflection of her empathy and the personal connections she fosters.
In 2002, she achieved a major milestone by earning her G.E.D., followed by completing HACC’s Certified Nurses Aide program. She continued her education by studying International Religions and Sociology, a testament to her lifelong commitment to learning and personal growth.
When asked why she loves working for SDoL, Rosemary highlighted what makes the district truly special: “We are not only diverse, but we are community-based. The opportunities available to employees and families, along with the potential for growth, make this a place where everyone can thrive.” Her words reflect her appreciation for the district’s mission and values, which align perfectly with her own.
Beyond her professional life, Rosemary is a devoted mother, grandmother to ten, and great-grandmother. Her family is her greatest joy, and she cherishes spending time with them, whether it’s gardening, cooking, or playing in the rain with her grandchildren. Her beloved fur baby, Bella Rose, also holds a special place in her heart.
Rosemary is a person of many passions. She loves creating art, listening to music across all genres, and finding joy in everyday moments. Her deep faith grounds her, and she shares, “I am grateful to God most of all for walking with me always.” This gratitude and positive outlook shape her approach to work and life.
Rosemary, your dedication to supporting students and staff, your ability to create meaningful connections, and your infectious love for life enrich our district every day. Thank you for all that you do!
