As the school year winds down, our focus turns toward continuing learning opportunities that stretch into the summer months. We recognize how valuable these months are, not only for academic reinforcement but also for creative exploration, social development, and simply giving students the chance to thrive in new ways.
In recent years, the ESSER grant enabled the School District of Lancaster to broaden our summer offerings, making high-quality programming accessible to more families across the district. With that funding now expired, our summer resources have reverted to pre-pandemic levels. As a result, we are no longer able to provide financial support for external summer camp providers.
Still, our commitment to student learning doesn’t take a break. Many of our elementary schools are working hard to offer limited summer learning and enrichment opportunities. These programs vary by location and space is limited, so we encourage families to contact their child’s school directly for more details.
We also understand that meaningful learning experiences extend well beyond our classrooms. In partnership with local organizations, we are compiling and sharing information about additional summer camps and programs happening throughout the community.
Providers are invited to submit their program information through our SmartSheet form, and we’ll promote those opportunities on our website and social media to help families explore a wide range of options.
We appreciate the support of our families and the partnership of community organizations who continue to help us extend opportunities to students. While the structure of summer may look different this year, the heart of our mission stays the same: helping every student learn, grow, and thrive.
