On Tuesday, February 10, the School District of Lancaster celebrated a meaningful moment of recognition as SWAN Rising Stars students were honored by the Rotary Club of Lancaster for their service to our community.
SWAN exists to serve children affected by parental incarceration by providing free music lessons, ensemble training, performance opportunities, and mentoring. Through this work, students are given a space where their voices matter.
At the heart of SWAN’s mission is the belief that every child deserves hope and the opportunity to experience something life changing. Music becomes the vehicle, but the impact extends far beyond the stage. Students build confidence and discipline. They form meaningful connections with mentors and peers. They begin to see that their circumstances do not define their potential.
Being recognized by Lancaster Rotary highlights something important. Service does not begin in adulthood. It begins in classrooms, rehearsal spaces, and community rooms where young people choose to show up, support one another, and use their talents to contribute to something bigger than themselves.
We are grateful to the Rotary Club of Lancaster for honoring our Rising Stars and for standing alongside programs that invest in young people. Community organizations play a vital role in affirming the brilliance and potential that already exists within our students.
