SWE Update – Dec. 3

Message from Principal Martz

Good Afternoon SWE Families~

I hope everyone had a relaxing Thanksgiving!  It was wonderful to meet some of you last night at the PTO meeting.  I appreciate all the feedback regarding our winter concert.  Once we have a decision regarding the concert, we will communicate that out to all families.  I appreciate your support.  As always, if you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.  I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Winter Weather Reminders

Please remember to dress your students accordingly to the weather but keep in mind our uniform policy:

Also, to reiterate: if the real feel temperature is 25 degrees or below, recess will be held indoors.

Early Dismissal Reminder

Wednesday, December 8, is an Early Dismissal Day. Students will be dismissed at 12:30 PM.

Toys for Tots

Toys for Tots Lancaster is facing an unprecedented shortage of 8,000 toys this season. If you are able to help, it is much appreciated! New, unwrapped toys and monetary donations will be collected at the following times:

  • Friday 12/3 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at Christmas in the Park at Lititz Spring Park
  • Saturday 12/4 from 12:00PM – 4:00PM at Park City Mall Donation Center at Former Sears Auto Center in Kohls Parking Lot

Please help to spread the word to as many people as you can and make this a season to remember for our community and beyond.

Traffic Procedures

As a reminder about our traffic flow pattern during dismissal and drop off, all car riders must enter and exit from Millersville Pike.  Access from 5th avenue and Hamilton Park drive should be avoided for all car riders as it is causing unsafe traffic patterns.  There are “Do Not Enter” signs posted on the orange barricade to prevent cars from entering.  Please do not go around the barricade. We need to have Hamilton Park Drive available for bus drop-off and pick-up only.  By doing this, we will increase the safe travel of students walking to school.

SWE Safety Patrol

Smith-Wade-El Elementary is proud to announce that Safety Patrol for the 2021-2022 school year will be up and running beginning next week! The chosen 5th grade students exemplified the qualities that all SWE students demonstrate every day. They are model students for being respectful, responsible, and safe!

Any questions, please reach out to Mr. Aukamp or Ms. Maicher.

Smith-Wade-El iGive

SWE is on the iGive Platform. We are asking that you download this for your holiday shopping this year. A percent of the proceeds goes towards our Parent Teacher Organization and helps our school. Give back, every time you shop. Over 2,300 stores automatically support you in helping.
