The District began searching for a permanent Smith-Wade-El principal immediately, posting the position on Friday, October 15. In order to expedite the search, candidates are being screened on a rolling basis. The search is slated to be completed by January 2022. We hope that the new principal will be available to start in the spring, but are preparing in case they are not available until July 1.
Until a new principal gets started, the district has posted an interim principal with the intention of recommending a candidate on or before the December school board meeting.
The District is also placing an interim assistant principal at SWE for the remainder of the 2021-22 school year to support both the interim principal and new principal.
Here is how you can participate:
The interview process will allow for SWE parents and caregivers to meet the candidates and provide feedback. This structured meeting will be open to all SWE families and include school board members and the search committee. Participants will need to sign a confidentiality agreement and complete a feedback form. The search committee will primarily rely on the written feedback provided by the attendees to evaluate the candidates in this phase of the process.
