We’re excited for Halloween and all the fun it brings! As a friendly reminder, the Lancaster Inter-Municipal Committee recommends trick-or-treating on Halloween night, October 31, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., rain or shine. While this recommendation sets a suggested time, it doesn’t restrict neighborhoods, organizations, or families from choosing different dates or times that work best for them.
As you gear up for Trick-or-Treating, here are a few helpful safety tips to keep in mind for a Spook-tacular Evening!
- Be Seen: Wear bright costumes or add reflective tape. Carrying a flashlight will help drivers spot you as you explore.
- Stay Street-Smart: Walk on sidewalks and cross streets only at intersections and crosswalks. Keep an eye out for moving traffic, including cars, bikes, and… maybe even a broomstick or two!
- Stay with the Group: Young children should trick-or-treat with an adult, and all little ghouls and goblins are safest when accompanied.
- Know the Rules: Never enter a stranger’s home, apartment, or car, even if they’ve got treats!
- Plan Ahead: Set a route, choose starting and ending times, and agree on a meeting spot if groups split up.
- Inspect the Treats: Parents and caregivers, check all candy before eating it and keep only treats in original packaging.
- Most importantly, have a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
