Language and Literature 11 is the third core course for English Language Arts at the high school. This course continues to refine, develop key communication skills taught in previous grades. The course is designed to foster a connection between studied course literature and students’ own lives. In-depth text analysis includes a range of modern and classical literature as well as nonfictional texts. Vocabulary acquisition and active, critical, and analytical reading are the focus areas for this course. In this course, students continue to develop increasingly complex research skills while defining their writing skills. Emphasis will be on formal writing of essays using the informational and persuasive modes of writing to enhance their communication skills.
