OLGA RUTH STRATTON & THOMAS E WOLF SCHOLARSHIP 2026
The Salvation Army Olga Ruth Stratton and Thomas E. Wolf Scholarship funds was established to make it possible for students of low to moderate income households to attend higher education institutions to continue their academic study or to learn a trade specialty.
ELIGIBILITY:
A. Applicants must be residents of Pennsylvania, residing in Lancaster County.
B. Applicants must demonstrate a need for higher education financial assistance.
C. Applicants must be candidates for graduation from their High Schools (or for receiving a GED certificate) in the current year.
D. Applicants must have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
E. All applicants are required to:
1. Complete and submit the ORS/TEW Scholarship Application Forms (QR code found on next page)
2. Submit High School Transcript. If transcript does not include 12th grade, submit copies of 12 grade report cards.
3. Submit at least two (2) recommendation letters from people familiar with the applicant (i.e. teacher, principal, clergy, employer, etc.). One must be academic in nature, and one must be community service related.
4. Submit a one (1) page essay (450-500 words) stating his/her college and career goals and involvement in community service activities & initiatives including any leadership roles held.
5. If selected to do so, attend a scheduled interview with the Committee (see letter I below).
F. All required application materials must be received by the end of the day on Friday, March 15, 2026.
G. Scholarship winners must be accepted by a degree granted by college or university, or by an accredited institution of higher learning or training such as community college, trade school, nursing school, etc. to receive the scholarship fund.
H. Scholarship winners must be entering their first year of higher education in the current year.
I. Upon review of completed applications, the ORS/TEW Scholarship Committee will select students to be interviewed. Interview date will be Wednesday, March 25th.
Interviews are in person. Applicants to be scheduled for an interview will be contacted by phone and/or e-mail and must follow up with The Salvation Army staff to confirm their interview appointment time.

Applications are open to first generation immigrant students with or without DACA or TPS who came to the U.S. before the age of 16 and before Nov. 1, 2020. The National Scholarship Award will help cover your tuition and fees at one of our Partner Colleges up to a maximum of $33,000 for a bachelor’s degree.
Scholars also receive an additional stipend for books, supplies, and transportation up to a maximum of $6,000. While we consider your GPA, we place great emphasis on your dedication to community service and your commitment to academic and career success despite the barriers and challenges that Dreamer students face daily.
The award follows students through the completion of a bachelor’s degree and is renewable each year. Recipients must meet the continuing eligibility criteria and renew the award in June.
