The School District of Lancaster is decking the halls at Clipper Magazine Stadium, with a little help from Willow Valley Communities.
The retirement living community donated to SDoL a tree in the ballpark’s Christmas Tree Lane and Spirit Light Show. It’s one of 125 trees donated by various local businesses that are on display throughout the stadium.
Hand Middle School students and sixth grade Hand science teacher Kayla Montgomery created the beautiful decorations for the tree, including a display of words of affirmation. Ms. Montgomery also works as a part-time CNA at Willow Valley, so she said the project is extra special for her.
Visitors to the annual Christmas display at Clipper Stadium can vote for their favorite decorated tree through monetary donations. All proceeds generated from the SDoL tree will support students at Hand Middle School. Stop by Christmas Tree Lane at Clipper Stadium to cast your vote!
“Both my students and the residents I work closely with in the dementia unit at Willow Valley Communities provided the decorations for the tree,” she said. “The students wrote encouraging notes on their ornaments and the residents painted decorative balls to hang on the tree. I am very proud of how quickly this project came together.”
