Students don’t discover their future in one moment, they discover it through experiences and opportunities that help them see what is possible.
That is why we are proud to celebrate Alex Rohrer, Community School Director, who has been named a Lancaster County STEM Alliance Ambassador for the 2026-2027 school year.
The Lancaster County STEM Alliance works to advance STEM learning across the county by supporting programs that connect students to creativity, problem-solving, career exploration and hands-on learning.
For SDoL, that work reflects something we know deeply. Student success grows stronger when schools, families, nonprofit organizations, employers and community partners work together with a shared purpose.
As a Community School Director, Dr. Rohrer sees that connection every day. Community schools are built on the belief that students learn best when the people around them are working together to remove barriers and create access. Those partnerships can help students explore new interests, meet caring adults and begin to imagine pathways they may not have considered before.
STEM learning plays an important role in that work. Through the Lancaster County STEM Alliance Ambassador program, Dr. Rohrer will have the opportunity to learn alongside other educators and community leaders from across Lancaster County while supporting efforts that reimagine STEM learning for students.
This work aligns closely with SDoL’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities that reflect students’ diverse interests and talents, while strengthening the community partnerships that help students grow in and beyond the classroom.
We are grateful for Dr. Rohrer’s leadership and for the continued support of partners, including Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster, who help make opportunities like this possible.
When our community invests in educators, it invests in students. When we build stronger partnerships, we build stronger pathways. And when students have access to meaningful learning experiences, they are better prepared to see themselves in the future they are working toward.
