Before the school day began, Burrowes Elementary School made time for families to get to know the officers who serve their school community. Coffee with a Cop brought families, members of the Lancaster Township Police Department and School District of Lancaster School Security Officers together for coffee and conversation, continuing an event that received a strong response last year.
The informal gathering offered families an opportunity to ask questions and share what was on their minds. Officers also had time to listen and learn more about the families whose children attend Burrowes.
“Our community partnerships should give families a voice in the work we do,” said Community School Director Dr. Rohrer. “Making time to sit down and listen helps us understand what families need and how we can support them.”

Hosting the gathering at school made those introductions part of a place families already know. The response to last year’s event encouraged Burrowes to bring it back and continue building those connections.
“We want families to feel welcome at Burrowes and know the people who are part of their child’s school day,” said Principal Michele Duroni. “It’s good to have opportunities like this when we can spend time with one another and get to know someone beyond their name or role.”
Thank you to the families and Lancaster Township Police Department for spending part of the morning at Burrowes. For more photos, visit us on Facebook.
