Congratulations to McCaskey High School’s Vivian Salerno on an extraordinary accomplishment! Vivian captured the AAU Junior Olympic championship in the girls 17-18 800-meter race, crossing the finish line in 2:06.54 to set a new AAU Junior Olympic record that had stood since 2016.
She finished more than seven-tenths of a second ahead of the runner-up and added another milestone to an already remarkable season.
Her national title follows a spring and summer that included a PIAA Class 3A state championship and a fifth-place finish at New Balance Outdoor Nationals. With a personal best of 2:06.33, Vivian also owns the fastest 800-meter time in Lancaster-Lebanon League history.
Way to go McCaskey Red Tornado!
