Looking ahead to Commencement: Information for graduates and families

Congratulations to the Class of 2023!

McCaskey High School is preparing to celebrate more than 650 graduates during our 89th Commencement on Wednesday, May 31. Commencement ceremonies will be held at Clipper Magazine Stadium, beginning at 7 p.m. We want to ensure all of our graduates and their families know what to expect over the next several days.

Graduation practices are held at McCaskey starting tomorrow, Friday May 26, and continuing on Tuesday, May 30. Practices on both days begin at 7:50 a.m. All seniors must be present the entire time to participate in graduation. There is no school for students on May 29.

Seniors must have picked up their cap and gown and paid all obligations in order to ensure that their diploma is available following the ceremony.

Families should prepare for heavy traffic in the area of the stadium the evening of Commencement. Please have plans to meet your graduate following the ceremony.

The rain date for Commencement is Thursday June 1. However, for logistical reasons, we will make every effort to proceed with the ceremony as scheduled on May 31. That means we will proceed in light rain, passing showers, or with a threat of rain in the forecast. Please note, umbrellas are not permitted in the stands or on the field at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

We will use the rain date in the event of severely inclement weather only. The HS administration will monitor the weather forecast closely and will communicate any updates via social media, the district website, and direct communication with families beginning on May 30 at 4 p.m., and periodically thereafter if any changes need to be made to the ceremony. We will make any decision to postpone no later than 2 p.m. on May 31.
