The School District of Lancaster board of directors on April 18 unanimously appointed Matt Przywara as assistant superintendent, effective July 1 when his term as acting superintendent ends.
Przywara is currently serving as acting superintendent for the district, as the board concludes its search for a permanent leader. He will obtain his superintendent’s letter from the PA Department of Education in June.
In a reorganization of the district’s leadership, Przywara will oversee human resources, data analytics and communications, in addition to the areas of finance and operations, which he led previously as chief of finance and operations.
“I remain committed to the School District of Lancaster, and I am excited about the opportunities this role provides me,” Przywara said. “This position will allow me to continue leading areas that have impact for the future of our students, staff and community. It will also allow me to expand my focus on instruction and curriculum.”
School board president Robin Goodson said the board looked for a way to maximize Przywara’s leadership talents in a new organizational structure.
“We believe this leadership model empowers Mr. Przywara to build on his work that our employees have praised,” she said, “particularly in the areas of organizational culture, employee engagement and data analysis.”
The school board is deliberating on the superintendent candidacy of Dr. Keith Miles Jr., who also visited the district on April 18. The board did not set a timetable on when it could vote on Dr. Miles, should it decide to offer a contract to him.
Regardless of who the board selects, Przywara said, “I look forward to getting to know our new superintendent and I hope to establish a strong partnership serving under that individual’s leadership.”
