School Board update on the superintendent search

Robin Goodson, the president of the School District of Lancaster board of school directors, released the following statement on Friday:

Over the past month, the school board has been working diligently to review feedback from staff and community members as it considers its next steps in appointing a superintendent. At the same time, the board looked at the entire leadership structure of the school district. Our goal is to ensure the organizational structure maximizes the talents of leaders and meets the needs of all constituency groups.

The board has invited a new candidate for superintendent, Dr. Keith Miles Jr., to visit the district on Tuesday, April 18. Dr. Miles will interview with the board, visit schools and meet with key staff.

Dr. Miles is currently superintendent at Bridgeton Public Schools, a diverse, 6,000-student district in Bridgeton, N.J. Previously, he served as assistant superintendent at Trenton Public Schools and as a principal in Camden (N.J.) City School District and at Olney Charter High School in Philadelphia. For the first seven years of his career, Dr. Miles taught biology at Oxon Hill High School in Oxon Hill, Md. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Spanish Language and Literature and Biology and a doctorate in educational administration from George Washington University.

Dr. Miles interviewed with the board previously during the search process. Following the withdrawal of our previous selection, we reconsidered all applications within the context of community feedback on the needs of our district. Взять займ на карту. Specifically, the board selected Dr. Miles as a candidate based on his role as a superintendent, his years working in our region and his experience working with underfunded and urban districts.

We are also pleased to announce the board has reached an agreement with acting superintendent Matt Przywara to serve as assistant superintendent. Mr. Przywara will oversee a leadership reorganization that incorporates key functions of human resources, communications and data analytics under his purview, in addition to finance and operations, which he previously oversaw.

The board believes this leadership model empowers Mr. Przywara to build on his work employees praised in the areas of organizational culture, employee engagement and data analysis.

We look forward to meeting Dr. Miles in person, introducing him to our community and carefully considering his leadership potential in the School District of Lancaster.
