Niquan Lee, Greg Rodgers, and Stan Mendenhall Honored
On Friday, October 11, 2024, McCaskey Athletics inducted three alumni into its Athletic Hall of Fame: Niquan Lee (Class of 2002), Greg Rodgers (Class of 1962), and Stan Mendenhall (Class of 1992). These three Red Tornado athletes were honored during a special ceremony prior to the homecoming football game, celebrating their contributions to McCaskey sports and their lasting impact on the community.
Niquan Lee, Class of 2002
A standout multi-sport athlete, Niquan Lee earned four varsity letters in Football and Track and Field, as well as two varsity letters in Basketball. As a two-way player on the football field, Lee excelled as both a running back and linebacker. His senior year was especially noteworthy, as he rushed for 1,264 yards, scored 15 touchdowns, and was named First Team All-State. Lee’s leadership helped guide McCaskey to a 10-2 season and a berth in the 2001 District Three Class 4A Championship. Over his high school career, Lee amassed 3,111 rushing yards and 51 touchdowns.
In Track and Field, Lee was a talented sprinter and jumper, contributing to the 4×100 relay team that placed second in the Lancaster-Lebanon League championships twice. On the basketball court, Lee helped his team win two L-L League championships and reach the PIAA 4A state semifinals twice.
Lee continued his athletic career at the University of Delaware, playing as a running back. Beyond sports, he founded “Be-Youth,” a program designed to help bridge educational gaps for underserved communities. He is also the head of Lee Mechanical Company, LLC, a full-service construction and supply company in Delaware.
Stan Mendenhall, Class of 1992
Stan Mendenhall was a three-year letter winner in Football and Track and Field, with an additional varsity letter in Basketball. As a two-year starter at quarterback and twice-elected captain of the football team, Mendenhall’s leadership on the field was undeniable. His senior year saw him guide McCaskey to the L-L League Section One title, capped off by a thrilling 13-12 victory over Reading, where Mendenhall threw an 11-yard touchdown pass as time expired.
In addition to his role in winning the league title, Mendenhall was recognized as “Player of the Week” by the Lancaster New Era newspaper for his performance in a victory over Downingtown, one of Pennsylvania’s top-ranked teams. His achievements earned him All-Lancaster-Lebanon League Second Team honors as a senior.
Greg Rodgers, Class of 1967
Greg Rodgers was one of the standout runners of the 1960s, earning six varsity letters in Cross Country and Track and Field. He dominated the Lancaster County Cross Country Championships, winning titles in both his junior and senior years. Rodgers also placed second in the District III Cross Country Championships and represented McCaskey at the Pennsylvania State Championships.
In track, Rodgers was undefeated in the mile and half-mile races during the Central Penn League season, showcasing his prowess in middle-distance running. At the conclusion of his senior year, he was named McCaskey’s Outstanding Senior Athlete. Following graduation, Rodgers continued his running career at the University of Pittsburgh, where he placed second at the IC4A Championships in Cross Country during his sophomore season.
This year’s inductees—Niquan Lee, Greg Rodgers, and Stan Mendenhall—join a long list of alumni who have left an indelible mark on Red Tornado sports. Their stories of athletic excellence, leadership, and community impact continue to inspire current and future McCaskey student-athletes.
The induction ceremony was held before the annual homecoming football game, marking yet another proud moment in McCaskey’s rich athletic history.
