McCaskey Pride shows up on the Green

On Friday, June 12, the 4th Annual McCaskey Golf Outing at Crossgates Golf Club brought together the community for a day rooted in Red Tornado pride and a shared commitment to student-athletes.

This year’s outing raised more than $31,000 for School District of Lancaster Athletics, with every dollar going directly toward programs that support student-athletes across the district. Those funds help create opportunities for students to grow as competitors and leaders, both in their sports and in their lives beyond the game.

“Athletics gives our students so much more than the chance to compete,” said Teasia Pena, Director of Athletics. “It helps them build confidence and a sense of belonging. When our community supports events like this, they are directly investing in the experiences that help our student-athletes succeed on and off the field.”

Athletics has always played an important role in the McCaskey experience. For many students, being part of a team gives them a place to belong, adults who believe in them and goals that push them to keep improving.

That kind of impact takes a village who understand that investing in athletics means investing in students. “The golf outing is special because it brings so many parts of the McCaskey community together,” said Luke Thomas, Assistant Director of Athletics. “You see alumni, families, staff and supporters all showing up for the same reason. They believe in our students and want to help create more opportunities for them.”

The golf outing brought together generations of McCaskey pride. Alumni returned to support the school that helped shape them. Parents and staff came out for the students they see working hard every day. Supporters from across Lancaster joined in because they know the success of our student-athletes is something worth backing.
