This week Dr. William Griscom, retiring President of Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, joined Dr. Rau and Principal Marian Grill at Lafayette Elementary to unveil banners highlighting the Thaddeus Stevens-SDoL partnership.
Dr. Griscom is a longtime supporter of the School District of Lancaster. Under his leadership, Thaddeus Stevens developed the Adopt-a-Kindergarten program that now supports eight schools within the district. Through the program, kindergarten students tour the local college and learn from Stevens’ professors. Lafayette Elementary was the first Adopt-a-Kindergarten school when the program started in 2012.
Thaddeus Stevens also provides campus tours for all 7th grade students, and offers a significant number of on and off campus dual enrollment programs.
Thaddeus Stevens College maintains a robust financial aid program as its mission is to create opportunity in education for those who might not otherwise have access. Part of the College’s financial aid is its exclusive Stevens Grant, which spans any financial gaps for qualified students via tuition, housing, and food costs after other financial aid and family contributions are applied.
“The college continues to be a popular destination for McCaskey graduates and one of our strongest partners,” Dr. Rau said. “We are fortunate to have this gem in the heart of our community.”
