This week Dr. William Griscom, retiring President of Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, joined Dr. Rau and Principal Marian Grill at Lafayette Elementary to unveil banners highlighting the Thaddeus Stevens-SDoL partnership.
Dr. Griscom is a longtime supporter of the School District of Lancaster. Under his leadership, Thaddeus Stevens developed the Adopt-a-Kindergarten program that now supports eight schools within the district. Through the program, kindergarten students tour the local college and learn from Stevens’ professors. Lafayette Elementary was the first Adopt-a-Kindergarten school when the program started in 2012. Students in the Adopt-a-Kindergarten program are eligible for free tuition at Thaddeus Stevens if they earn admission to the college.
Thaddeus Stevens also provides campus tours for all 7th grade students, and offers a significant number of on and off campus dual enrollment programs.
“The college continues to be a popular destination for McCaskey graduates and one of our strongest partners,” Dr. Rau said. “We are fortunate to have this gem in the heart of our community.”
