This week’s staff shoutout goes to our incredible Home School Visitors team! Although there’s no official appreciation month or day for them, their impact is felt every single day across the district.
Home School Visitors play a vital role in connecting families, students, and schools. They are often the first to respond when a family faces challenges that affect a child’s ability to attend or engage in school. Their work blends compassion, problem solving, and advocacy to make sure every student has the opportunity to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
Each day, they help families navigate complex situations, whether it is securing stable housing, arranging transportation, accessing mental health services, or connecting to community partners who can help meet basic needs. They are the steady presence who checks in when attendance becomes a concern, who listens without judgment, and who collaborates with teachers, counselors, and administrators to develop solutions that keep students learning and families supported.
Home School Visitors also help families understand and engage with school processes, including attendance expectations, special education services, and intervention plans. They guide parents through these systems with care, making sure families know their voices matter and that they are not alone in advocating for their child’s success.Their work requires empathy and a deep understanding of the diverse experiences that shape our community. They often visit families in their homes, meet with them in community spaces, and spend countless hours following up to ensure every need is addressed. Many of their efforts go unseen, yet their influence is felt in every improved attendance record, every student who returns to class ready to learn, and every family who feels more connected to their school.

Korynn Wagner, Interim Assistant Director of School Climate, shared her appreciation for the team’s efforts. “Our Home School Visitors are truly the heart of our family engagement work,” she said. “They meet families where they are, provide stability during difficult times, and make sure that no student is left behind. Their care and persistence make a lasting difference for our students and our schools.”
We are proud to recognize our Home School Visitors team for their ongoing commitment to our students and families. They embody what it means to care deeply, act intentionally, and strengthen the connections that make our district a true community of support. Thank you for all that you do to help every child thrive!
