At the School District of Lancaster, our top priority is creating safe, welcoming, and positive learning environments where every student can thrive. Each child deserves to learn in an environment free from discrimination, harassment, and barriers to their success.
I would like to remind you of your rights and those of your child under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Title IX is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination based on sex—including sexual harassment and sexual violence—in any education program or activity receiving federal funding. This means that students, staff, and families are protected in all district programs, services, and activities.
Your Rights Under Title IX:
- You and your child have the right to learn and participate in school programs without fear of discrimination or harassment based on sex.
- You have the right to report concerns of discrimination, harassment, or retaliation to the district.
- You have the right to a fair, impartial, and prompt response from the district when a concern is raised.
- You have the right to supportive measures and resources to ensure your child feels safe and supported during and after the Title IX process.
The district has trained staff members, including a Title IX Team, who are here to help you navigate concerns and ensure protections are upheld. If you or your child ever experiences or witnesses harassment, discrimination, or retaliation, please reach out to our Title IX Compliance Officer:
