Wheatland Football is a family affair

Wheatland MS Tigers head football coach Brad Koehler takes special pride in his team’s perfect season this fall. That’s because the Wheatland football program has been in his family for generations.

The Tigers wrapped up an undefeated season with a 40-8 win over York Suburban on Oct. 30, finishing 8-0.

“I attribute our success to playing together and winning as a family,” shares Coach Koehler. The 39-member team “played for each other and were excited for one another. They were a hard working group that pushed each other to be successful.”

The Koehler name is embedded throughout the history of the Wheatland football program. Now in his 12th season with Wheatland football, and third year as head coach, Koehler is the third generation in his family to oversee the program. His coaching staff this year included his younger brother and father. His grandfather Hugh Koehler, who was a physical education teacher at Wheatland many years ago, was the head football coach for a number of years. His father was the head football coach about 25 years ago for multiple years.

Coach Koehler is quick to commend the team for their dedication, respect, and buy-in to what they were trying to accomplish this season. He also thanks the community, parents, coaching staff, teaching staff, administration, and athletic department for their support.
