A little color went a long way at Wheatland Middle School. The fifth annual Tiger Color Run brought students out for an afternoon of running and walking in support of the field trips, assemblies and clubs that help round out their school experience.
Hosted by the Wheatland Middle School FTO, the run is the organization’s largest fundraiser of the year. The event featured a 1.25-mile route with music and five color stations along the way. Each grade took its turn on the course, with students choosing their pace and whether to pass through the color stations.
“Students look forward to the Tiger Color Run, and the money raised helps us offer experiences they’ll enjoy throughout the year,” said Wheatland Principal Don Trost. “Our FTO puts a lot of work into making this afternoon happen. We’re grateful to the families and everyone who donated to support our students.”
The fundraiser has brought in $2,883 so far, including a $500 donation from The Rainmakers Association. Families and friends donated on behalf of students’ grades, with sixth grade leading at $1,100, followed by eighth grade with $748 and seventh grade with $535.
“Every donation adds to what we can offer Wheatland students,” said Carmen M. Guaigua, Wheatland FTO treasurer. “We appreciate everyone who contributed, whether they donated or gave their time to help with the run.”
