Together we can

Data, Assessment & Research

In the School District of Lancaster, we are all lifelong learners.  By using a common system of assessment across the District, we can measure:

  • the progress of our students
  • the types of academic supports our students may need
  • the effectiveness of our curriculum and instruction
  • the preparedness of our students for college and careers

State Testing

The state of Pennsylvania requires certain assessments for students in Grades 3 through 8 and also subject-related exams for High School students. These assessments include: English Language Arts and Literature; Mathematics and Algebra I; and Science and Biology. The Pennsylvania Department of Education provides a schedule for completing these assessments.

School Performance

Achievement & Growth

Using multiple measures, educators are able to make data-informed instructional decisions to ensure the academic development of all students.

The Pennsylvania Department of Education releases information on school and district demographics and performance through the Future Ready PA Index.  On this page, the public can search for school buildings and view various performance measures.  The ESSA Federal Report is also available via the district page of the Future Ready PA Index.

The Pennsylvania Value-Added Assessment System (PVAAS) provides growth data for districts and schools across the state.  This data is used in conjunction with achievement data to make certain that students are on the path to proficiency and advancement.
