Assessments

The School District of Lancaster administers a variety of assessments throughout the school year in order to determine student achievement, growth, individual needs, and mastery of the state standards. We believe that if we gather reliable student data, then teachers will be able to make instructional decisions, so that the needs of all students are met and success is ensured.

Pennsylvania Assessments

Pennsylvania requires certain assessments for students in Grades 3 through 8 and subject-related exams for High School Students. Each spring, students in Grades 3-8 participate in the PSSA Assessments in the area of English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. High School students participate in the Keystones which are end of course assessments in the area of Algebra 1, Biology, and Literature. Below is information on the schedule of these assessments, information on testing by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and contact information if you have any questions.
