This week, McCaskey High School welcomed students for its annual Pic Your Path event, a signature experience designed to help students envision their future and take the next steps in their academic journey.
Over the course of two days, McCaskey’s 10th graders had the opportunity to explore the many pathways available to them as they move into the upperclassman phase of their high school experience. Representatives from academic departments, Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, and extracurricular clubs set up interactive stations throughout the campus, giving students a firsthand look at the diverse opportunities that make McCaskey one of the most comprehensive high schools in the region.

For sophomores, this event serves as an important moment to refocus and make intentional decisions about their remaining two years. In 10th grade, students begin selecting courses that shape their postsecondary options, whether that means pursuing advanced placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) coursework, enrolling in college classes through dual enrollment partnerships, or applying to one of McCaskey’s many CTE programs, which prepare students for high-demand careers through hands-on training and industry certifications.

Later this week, McCaskey will open its doors to 8th graders from across the district. For these future Red Tornadoes, Pic Your Path offers a glimpse of what awaits them in high school. Students will tour classrooms and labs, meet with current McCaskey students and staff, and learn about the wide array of academic, athletic, and arts programs available. From cosmetology to computer science, engineering to early childhood education, McCaskey’s offerings reflect the district’s commitment to providing every student with a path that matches their passions and goals.

Pic Your Path is part of SDoL’s larger effort to help students connect learning to life. By introducing these opportunities early and revisiting them as students grow, McCaskey ensures that every learner has the tools, guidance, and support to make informed choices about their future.
At McCaskey, students are not just preparing for graduation. They are discovering who they want to become and charting a course to get there. For more photos, visit us on Facebook.
