Exploring College Through Dual Enrollment

School District of Lancaster is the only district in the county that covers the cost of students’ college courses. Students can take one college course per semester at no cost as long as they meet a few basic requirements and can still meet their general McCaskey graduation requirements. Before the District approves study at the college level for any student, all options for advanced study within the subject area presently provided by the District should be explored. Students participating in the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology early enrollment program will complete 1/2 of their associates degree at no cost!

To be eligible for this opportunity you must meet the following requirements.

At least a 2.5 unweighted GPA or special approval from high school administration
Submit the dual enrollment request form
Counselor approval
SDoL will not cover the cost for students to retake a course that they previously failed
Meet any college specific requirements

Note: All EMU-Lancaster dual enrollment courses are offered online.

Requirements:

Must be 11th grade or higher
Student must have completed (and earned B or better) at least some of the academically challenging coursework offered by the high school (i.e. AP/IB courses)

Students in 10th grade must be “exceptional” students and include additional letter of recommendation
Student must be making satisfactory progress towards completing high school requirements
