George Ross Elementary School Vision Statement
A school where every individual’s unique talents are strengthened and celebrated and where opportunities to grow abound.

Welcome to George Ross Elementary—we are grateful and honored to be part of your children’s educational journey.

George Ross Elementary is the heart of a child-centered community. From the mission statement of our school, to the actions of our staff and dedicated parents, we truly believe in this statement: Together We Can!

Nestled in the northern end of the city of Lancaster, we are a true neighborhood school that strives to be an extension of the community. At George Ross, we empower our 370 students and strive to inspire, motivate and celebrate their academic, social and emotional growth. Our dedicated staff of 40 is committed to working with our families to provide a nurturing environment in which all students feel valued. We believe this is key to promoting excellence in academic and personal growth.

At George Ross we focus on the following educational practices:

  • Educating the whole child and addressing each learner’s needs.
  • Using data and best practices to select, adjust and deliver instruction.
  • Providing on-going professional development for our staff.
  • Collaborating with our community to offer various learning activities.

We also believe literacy is the foundation in developing expertise in math, reading and writing. Science, with its hands-on approach, encourages discovery, problem solving and critical thinking skills. And, as an arts-based school, our hallways are filled with original artwork, song and instrumental music. Through all of these opportunities, our students will be prepared for today’s world and the one yet to be imagined.

Our hope is that you will immediately feel a sense of community when you walk through our doors because we believe the success of our school is due to our dedicated staff along with an effective partnership with our parents and the community. Our combined efforts and collaboration ensure achievement for all of our students. I personally welcome you to visit and experience our school climate.

Parents and community members are truly valued at Ross and we encourage you to get involved. George Ross is a special place where dreams are realized and success is achieved!

We welcome you!
