Together we can

Our students: ready to take the next step

School District of Lancaster is committed to making sure every graduate is ready to pursue a college degree or start their career.

Regardless of whether a student goes on to college, the military, or the workforce, we want students to leave prepared for their next step.  We invest in our students’ readiness through a comprehensive K-12 college and career readiness curriculum, rigorous courses, and the opportunity to take college classes at no cost. Together we can make students future ready.

McCaskey is hosting the SAT on Saturday November 2nd. Registration closes on October 18. Visit the Future Ready Center to register!

Elementary School:

Expose

Exposing students to college and career opportunities starts early at the School District of Lancaster. All students explore career opportunities in their classroom through monthly interactive lessons, literature, and a Career Day experience each year. As students prepare for the transition to middle school, students are encouraged to make connections between careers, personal interests, and their education.

Middle School:

Explore

Middle school gives students the opportunity to further explore their interests and consider future career pathways. Students make explicit connections between their coursework and the world of work. This is amplified through the district’s Future Ready Lancaster curriculum and guided career exploration and reflection using Xello software. Students continue to experience career-focused opportunities, and all 8th graders will visit Lancaster County Career and Technology Center. Middle school culminates in the creation of each students’ individualized career plan.

High School:

Engage

SDOL offers numerous opportunities for students to engage with colleges or careers through class experiences, community activities, events, and personalized coaching provided by teachers, school counselors and the staff of McCaskey’s Future Ready Center. All students work through the Future Ready Lancaster curriculum to develop college and career portfolios and are encouraged to engage in internships, job shadowing, service learning, and volunteer experiences. McCaskey is the only high school in the county that hosts certified career and technical education programming, in addition to providing students the opportunity to attend Lancaster County CTC programs.  For students interested in attending college, McCaskey offers the IB diploma program, a wide range of rigorous AP and IB courses, and opportunities for college dual enrollment.
